Chapter 12: Friend or Foe?

Margaret threw her bag on the counter of the familiar coffee shop brushing her red feathers against her temple. She couldn’t believe that Mordecai had been gay the whole time; she also couldn’t believe she had gotten feelings for such a disgusting waste of space. Margaret looked up to the clock seeing she was a bit early for her shift, she hadn’t been up  to much since the arcade incident, her and her boyfriend had broken up, and she had been spending most of her time at her apartment. She moved around the front of the counter and behind it hearing a familiar voice.

“Margaret, are you alright?” Eileen walked over towards the counter with a tray full of empty cups. Pure concern was shown across her face; she hadn’t seen her red feathered friend for a couple of days, no warning, no nothing. Eileen placed the tray on the counter and hopped up on a stool looking directly at Margaret, she could tell, that something was wrong. “Margaret, come on.” Eileen crossed her arms and looked around the café making sure it was still practically empty before glancing back at the robin.

Margaret sighed, how could Eileen tell she was off of her game already? “Yeah I’m fine Eileen, just not ready to work today, been up working on school papers.” Of course this was a straight lie. Margaret walked towards the back room heading to punch herself in. Eileen was right behind her following her until Margaret took a left and Eileen kept straight to put the dishes into the sink. Margaret got to the shift clock and punched in before heading back to the counter. She glanced about the café, her eyes laid on someone under a black trench coat, a yellowish tail poking out from under it. that is very suspicious. She decided to go get the person’s order, or to see if he had already ordered, just to get a better look . As she walked up an overwhelming ominous feeling pulled at her, she couldn’t understand why she felt that way. She finally got to the table and she looked at the cloaked figure before speaking. “Excuse me but, did you happen to have been waited on already?”

The voice of a man pierced through the dark cloaked face. “Yes, but I came to see you Margaret.” The cloaked figure moved his hands and reached into a pocket in his trench coat, grabbing a letter out of it with a red seal. He placed it on the table his white teeth showing through the darkness hiding his face. The cloaked figure then stood up and bowed before leaving, his tail waving side to side as he went up the stairs and out the door. As soon as the door closed Margaret had glanced back down at the letter he had handed her. She looked at the seal; it had a big E in the center of it. She glanced around seeing if Eileen had come back out from doing the dishes yet. Eileen still wasn’t out yet so she looked back down at the letter again.

I wonder if I should even open this. Margaret was a little hesitant due to the fact Mordecai and Rigby had always gotten in some kind of mess or another and they might have gotten her involved in the newest one. She put the letter in her pocket and then rotated towards the counter seeing Eileen looking at her Margaret smiled. “I guess he didn’t want anything.” Margaret walked back towards Eileen and sat down on the stool in front of her. “So have you been talking to Rigby and Mordecai recently?” She asked this was a way to bring up the news that she had gotten on the two of them.

Eileen fixed her glasses and followed up with a nod. “Yeah, I actually had texted Rigby the other day, though he didn’t really respond that I can recall.” Eileen blushed a little, she felt like maybe she had been a big bother to Rigby and that’s why he was ignoring her. She looked at Margaret and could see that she had something to say, just by the looks of her eyes. “Why do you ask?” Margaret had to have a reason to have brought the two of them up, now was the point where she was going to find that out. Eileen didn’t honestly want to hear what Margaret was going to say but as the robin’s friend she had to listen even if it was something mean.

Margaret grinned and then started with her bashing of the avian and raccoon. “Those two are butt pirates, the other day at the arcade I saw the two of them making out, it was terrible, and it was just.” Eileen let out a grunt that interrupted Margaret’s ranting. Margaret was surprised that Eileen would interrupt her; this almost made her bite her tongue, and made her pretty angry.

“Shut up Margaret, if they are gay so what, let them be are they hurting you?” Eileen quickly took the two boys’ side, she was friends with them no matter what and Margaret lashing out and attacking them in such a matter wasn’t going to fly by her very well. “Seriously Margaret, this isn’t the nineteen hundreds get over your self.” Eileen looked away from Margaret and started walking away to check the tables make sure they all looked ok. “I mean I can understand you are upset with it, but there is no call to be rude about it ok, just calm down and think about it.” Eileen looked over her shoulder as she spoke seeing Margaret seeming to fume even more.

Margaret didn’t say anything back to Eileen she didn’t see a point in it if she wanted to defend those two gay brats then what kind of friend was she. The robin went behind the counter and continued with her normal work day, trying to not think too much on Mordecai and Rigby that was the last thing she really needed to think about. She also thought back to the man in the trench coat, who was he and what was in the letter that he had given her. Margaret was getting a bit nosey but she wanted to wait until her day was over before opening it. She still didn’t understand why the man had known her name but, he did.

Her day went by pretty fast after the morning dealing with a lot of normal every day customers and also a few new customers here and there. As she clocked out she turned to leave, she was stopped by Eileen who was standing in front of her. Margaret looked down at Eileen and just stared at her waiting for her to say something. She started tapping her clawed feet on the linoleum and looked at her watch she didn’t have all day she wanted to really see what was in the letter.

Eileen sighed her voice sounding slightly nervous. “Margaret... I’m sorry for earlier, you are right to be mad at them, but please don’t be mad at me.” Eileen didn’t really think that Margaret was right, but she really did value the friendship of her long time friend. Eileen smiled at Margaret just hoping and hoping that she would forgive her for her earlier outburst. She just was upset about the fact that Margaret was attacking Rigby, and Mordecai, gay or not she still thought Rigby was a hunk so she still had feelings for him.

Margaret didn’t want to accept the apology but right now Eileen was the only friend she really had any more. “Fine, I’m not mad at you just don’t do that again alright? It’s annoying.” Margaret smiled some at Eileen, who smiled back; there everything was fixed between the two. She didn’t honestly feel like the words would really heal the friendship but hey if things seemed like they were fixed for the time being that was what really mattered.

The mole looked down at her feet then back up at Margaret. “So you... mean that Rigby is in love with Mordecai?” Eileen kind of wanted to clarify it, since this would make sense for all the times Rigby had ignored her or been mean to her. She started to wonder how long Rigby had feelings for Mordecai and if the whole time Mordecai and Margaret had kind of been dating on and off, if dating is what you call it, Rigby had still liked him. “I mean, it would explain everything.” She said with a slight smile, then she blushed bright red, Mordecai and Rigby doing it popped into her mind. Of course in her mind Rigby was totally the top in the relationship.

Margaret saw the blush and then raised an eyebrow in confusion but didn’t pay it much heed. “Well, yeah that’s what I mean they are butt pirates together.” Margaret said this a little agitated being that she had to basically repeat the same thing twice. She was wondering how long she would have to wait before Eileen would let her get up and leave. “Well... um anything else you need?” Margaret asked hoping that Eileen was done asking questions.

Eileen shook her head and stood to the side so that Margaret could pass. “Nope I’m finished see you tomorrow.” Eileen looked at Margaret a little blankly being her mind was still on the idea of Mordecai and Rigby, Eileen secretly was a huge lover of yaio, so even though the one she loved was gay, he did make a good gay guy in her eyes. I need to get a video recorder and watch them. Eileen mentally laughed, she had to keep her cool until Margaret left.

Margaret walked past Eileen and then waved back at her. “See you tomorrow then.” Margaret continued out of the café and onto the street, her little chat with Eileen did make her feel a little bit better about the rest of her day. Now she just needed to check out that letter. She reached back into her pocket and checked around, no one was really out and about, which was a good thing in her book. She pulled out a pen and broke open the seal; darkness seemed to roll out of the letter as she opened it and looked at the words. Maybe, I shouldn’t read this, it seems like some kind of dark stuff is going on with it. Margaret closed the letter and looked around, she now felt like someone was watching her. She shivered and started down the sidewalk putting the letter back into her pocket, there was no way she was going to read it yet. As she walked she felt like she was still being watched though nobody was around. She stopped and turned around looking to see if there was anyone following her but still nothing. She looked towards her car; she would open the letter and read it when she got back to her apartment. She walked out onto the street and opened up the driver side door getting in and closing the door. She inhaled and exhaled her breathe turning into a fog in her car. She turned her car on and turned the heat on as a chill ran over her. yeah, definitely was a bad idea to look at the letter, I shouldn’t have opened it... but I feel a need to read it.

Margaret started down the road towards her apartment the chill slowly left the car as she continued driving, though the letter was still there as she felt it poking into her through her pocket. It didn’t take too long for her to make it to her apartment, as she pulled along side the road she looked up to her apartment window her light was on for some reason. She stepped out of her car and locked her door before heading to the apartment buildings front door opening it with her apartment key and heading inside. She went to the elevator and waited for them to open. Thankfully the feeling of being watched had left but she was curious as to see who was in her apartment, she thought she had taken her ex’s keys away from him. The elevator door opened and an old lady walked out Margaret slipped by her and into the elevator closing the door and getting ready to head up to the floor she lived on. As the elevator doors open she walked out, she felt like something was off, but she couldn’t put her finger on it. She continued down the hallway to her apartment opening the door and walking in.

As the door opened her apartment was dark, there was no one inside she flipped her light on quickly and looked around, that was pretty creepy the light had been on. She continued into her room and took off her work clothes; she had been wearing casual clothes underneath. She then grabbed the letter out of her pocket and looked at it; it was closed but still just seemed like pure evil. She walked to her bar and sat on one of the stools opening up the letter and started to read it aloud to herself. “Margaret, I am in need of meeting you, I wish to meet at the witch craft store on the main street, I have need of your assistance. Please do come. Sincerely Enoil.” Margaret shivered, well that was an odd name, and a short message for a whole letter, but still the point was made. I wonder if he is just going to be there whenever I go. She looked out the window as it seemed like a storm was coming into town. She then glanced back to where the paper was, to see that it had disappeared into thin air. Margaret knew that something bad was going to happen, but her curiosity was getting the better of her. She went to the bathroom and freshened up before heading to the door.

Margaret left the apartment in a haste getting in the car and quickly going to main street she didn’t honestly know where the magic shop was, or did she know there had been one there the whole time. Margaret found a spot to park and then sat in the car for a little while just looking around the streets, she still couldn’t see where the magic shop was from where she was parked but she had to believe it was there, she didn’t really have any other choice if she wanted to see what Enoil needed. She started contemplating whether or not to just leave and forget about it, but for some reason she just felt pulled towards checking. She opened up the car door and got out of the car closing the door and walking to the sidewalk. She looked around, there was a few people out and about going into stores and just doing whatever they please. Margaret looked forward and started her search for the magic store, she was sure that if she saw it, it wouldn’t be hard to identify it as the store.

Enoil could sense that Margaret had finally gotten in the area; she had decided to take him up on his plea for assistance. The cloaked figure moved towards the front of the store looking out the windows at the crowds of people going up and down the streets, shopping and browsing. A wide grin came across the cloaked face as he thought of the future. “Soon, oh soon none of you will even be able to see anything. The darkness shall surround and engulf you.” Enoil laughed to himself moving back to the register of the magic shop. The warlock was just waiting, waiting for the robin to enter his store; he had a master plan that involved her and her hatred for two of his enemies.

Margaret had continued down the sidewalk looking for the store, she couldn’t believe she was having such rotten luck on finding it. Until she felt like something touched her shoulder, she turned to look and see if she saw anyone but instead, across the street stood the magic shop she had been looking for. It had some weird symbols on it, no actual name, very odd but she could tell with all the weird bottles and witch looking things in the window it was the right place. She walked across the street carefully making sure no cars were coming before reaching the stores front doors. She opened them slowly and entered feeling a cool breeze blow past her the doors closing quickly behind her. “Hello?” Margaret called out into the store.

The cloaked figure came from the back and grinned seeing Margaret. “Ah, hello Margaret it is a great pleasure to see that you came to assist me.” Enoil moved his arm and motioned for Margaret to follow him. He started towards the back of the store past the register and to the back room, just to make sure no one could hear them in case they actually did come into the store. As they entered the back room he swung his hand and closed the door behind them. “So Margaret, being as you is here I take it you wish to help me?” Enoil wanted to make sure Margaret was not in the full swing of what was happening but needed to know if she was going to help him or not.

Margaret jumped as the door slammed behind her she looked at the cloaked figure after he spoke and then nodded gulping in spite of herself, there was definitely a lot of fear coming from her due to the mans appearance. “I did come here to help, I just feel like I’m supposed to help you.” Margaret said smiling awkwardly before looking around the room it was basically empty minus a few maps of the city. “So um, can I see what you look like without the cloak?” Margaret’s eyes set back on the cloaked figure, she was curious as to who Enoil was.

Enoil shook his head and then crossed his arms. “If I show you who I am it could ruin my plans, and that is not what I wish to happen.” Enoil then conjured up two chairs leaning back and into the one behind him motioning for Margaret to sit as well. Everything seemed to be going as planned; he had slight control over Margaret’s feelings which allowed him to get this meeting, now he just had to convince Margaret to join him on his mission. Enoil put his hands back down into his lap and then looked directly at Margaret. “You know Mordecai and Rigby correct?” He started with a simple question just to see how she would respond to it.

Margaret was stunned that he wanted to know about the two butt pirates but she didn’t really care if she gave them away or not. “Yeah I know those two why?” Margaret was still curious about why he would want to know about those two, she just wondered what kind of trouble they got themselves into this time and what kind of crap she could spread about them.

Enoil was glad she responded so willingly, of course he had expected such, but it was good to see things following as planned. He moved his hand from his lap to his knees and slid forward a little. “Well, I just have a quarrel with them, so how well do you know them, and are you on good terms?” Enoil leaned back in his chair crossing one of his legs over the other, he knew that they were not in good terms, but he just had to play this the best he could. He just needed to gain her trust, he couldn’t fully control her, and so he just needed to give her confidence in him.

Margaret thought for a moment on how to respond to the question before she answered. “Well, I know them pretty well, where they live, their room location, and what is important to them for the most part, as for being on good terms no way; those guys are gay little pigs.” Margaret grunted out the last bit, though she did mean every word she said, she really didn’t like gay guys. Margaret’s red feathers seemed to blow in an odd breeze, it was weird there was no windows. She looked back at the cloaked figure and saw him smiling. She shivered he seemed pretty scary and the way he seemed to stare was even creepier.

Enoil nodded as a smile crept onto his darkly illuminated face, he could see that things would go too planned; he could finally dispose of the two and summon Hyrokkin in one quick swoop. He rubbed his chin what could he ask her next, what could make her trust him even more. “So you don’t like gay men hmm, well then I suppose that our views are the same as well.” Enoil felt a little bad saying this, because it was untrue, but he had to do it, anything he could say to make the red feathered avian trust him. He casually moved his hand and brought a piece of paper from thin air into his palms the paper landing in his palm, slightly ruffling.  “I believe we could work together to bring Mordecai and Rigby down, it would in the long run make this world better.” A crocked smile plastered the shady face; he could sense nervousness in the red robin. He moved his cloaked hand onto her right leg rubbing it softly. “Don’t worry; you will be very well compensated.”

Margaret couldn’t tell if to trust him or not, but she would do anything to bring Mordecai and Rigby down. She didn’t really know if she wanted to kill them but she did want to hurt them, make them know what they are doing is wrong. She did however like the fact that Enoil seemed to have some of the same ideals and her, and this did make her trust for him increase. Though as soon as the cloaked figure placed a hand on her leg she felt calm, and felt like she could trust him completely, she didn’t know why but the hand just made her ability to trust her life in his hands sky rocket. “Compensated how?” Now the fact that she would be rewarded for her help made her get even more attentive to Enoil what did he have up his sleeve for handling the two?

Enoil made the piece of paper float in front of Margaret it having a spot for her to sign and a few words above it saying how by signing the document she would not question Enoil and would listen to all of his plans vowing her life to him until the plan was over. “Once you sign this I will let you know it will of course please you I’m sure.” He grinned and then summoned forth a quill for her to use to sign the paper. As the quill appeared darkness dribbled from its tip, little did Margaret know what Enoil really had planned, and that Margaret was about to become a pawn in his mission.

Margaret looked at the quill then plucked it out of the air grabbing the paper and writing on it, after she finished signing her name the pen and paper disappeared and she glanced up towards Enoil. “Now what am I supposed to do?” Margaret didn’t know what she could really do to help Enoil, but she was now enlisted in his company.

Enoil stood up and then walked to the door opening it. “Well, I just need you to go home and I’ll let you know when I need you, and as for being compensated, I’ll allow you to become immortal after my plan succeeds.” Enoil grinned some, he would do as promised if everything worked out, he wouldn’t let his word be soured by not doing as said. He did have a few things he needed to deal with before he told Margaret her part in the whole scheme. He held the door open and motioned for Margaret to leave the room; he had her signature and her acceptance to help him.

Margaret stood up from the chair and it dissipated into black flume of smoke, she glanced at it before her eyes traveled to the dark figure, still she hadn’t seen anything other then the tail that could truly identify him. She gingerly walked to the door before stopping in front of him trying to look under the hood, though it seemed like a unnatural darkness hide his face other then his grin, which shined through the darkness each time he smiled. “Well is there anything I can get now to sweeten the pot?” Margaret would like something up front, just incase things didn’t end up working out. She doesn’t like to do anything out of her comfort zone without first being given something. If this Enoil guy screws me over, I’ll beat the crap out of him, but if he is telling the truth it will be a way to show all of those little gay freaks that, they are not welcomed in this town. Margaret was getting a little stoked to work with Enoil but she still wanted something up front to make her feel a little more confident in his mission and his attitude towards her. She tapped her foot the marble floor making slight scratching noises each time her talons would touch it.

Enoil sighed; well he might as well give her something, if it made her even more willing to aid him then that’s what he should do. He opened up his register and looked through his bills he had at least three hundred dollars right there he grabbed them and looked at her. Is her assistance really worth three hundred bucks... hmm well if things work out Money won’t even be needed. He took the green bills and placed them into her red hands before smiling his white teeth showing through the darkness of his face. “Well there, now will you listen to me and go back to your place and wait for me to give you a heads up for when our plan will continue?” He was a slight bit annoyed and it could be easily seen in his stance, he waited for her to respond as she counted through the money. … This might have been a bad idea. Enoil thought this as his confidence in the robins worthiness was starting to dwindle with how selfish she seemed to be, but at the same time that selfishness is what made her able to even assist him.

Margaret finished counting the money, even though there were only three bills she wanted to make sure they were real and not fake, she wanted to be able to spend them that is for sure. “Yes, I’ll head back to my apartment, I’m sure you will find a way to contact me when you are ready.” She was ready to leave the creepy joint anyways; she had her fair share of the Enoil character, even if she didn’t know who he was beneath the hood she was sure to find out in the future, one way or another. She took her leave walking through the building to the door and opening it, though a whisper hit her ears as she went onto the sidewalk.

“This will be all over soon.”

Margaret jumped at the noise looking around the sidewalk, no one was there, she turned to look towards the building she had just left to see that it was just an empty store, with a for sale sign on it. “W-what..?” She stammered to herself before looking around, was she going nuts? She grabbed the dollar bills in her hand, they were still there, so then something must have gone on and it wasn’t all just in her mind. She looked about the sidewalks, making sure no one had seen her leaving the worn down shop, it seemed pretty empty so she felt like she was in the clear. now time to head back to my apartment. She grinned before walking towards her car, crossing the street and heading down the sidewalk, she still was curious as to what her part in the scheme of things would turn out to be, but until Enoil let her in she was in the dark. She sighed, she felt a little guilty but she felt like she had to do whatever Enoil asked her to do, she just hoped it wasn’t to kill the two. She might be a hateful person but she was no killer, she wouldn’t want to kill Mordecai and Rigby, maybe she made the wrong choice. She gulped she had signed the paper, but that didn’t make her have to stay working for him right? As the robin continued down the gray sidewalk she felt a cool breeze blow past her before another whisper came to her ear.

“Betray me, and you’ll die.”

Margaret gasped and felt sick within moments, her life was now at risk due to her own hatred, well... At least now she knew she couldn’t betray the warlock she would just have to stick with his plans, afterwards she got to be immortal anyways that would be fun. The air was starting to cool as the day was starting to come towards an end, and night was about to shine through. Margaret looked around her eyes landing on a handsome golden feathered man on the other side of the street. She continued walking not paying attention to where she was walking; this of course was not a good idea on her part as she ran into someone falling over them and onto her face. As she rubbed her face and got herself back on her feet she turned to see a familiar otter. “Gosh dang it Doug watch where you are going.” She spoke as she dusted some of the dirt off of her pants, it may have been her fault but she wasn’t going to take the blame for it.

“Sorry Margaret, I didn’t mean to... I was just in a hurry to meet my friend.” Doug smiled rubbing the back of his head, he knew all to well Margaret was a homophobe and he wasn’t going to let on that he was on his way to meet his boyfriend. He stood up and dusted himself off looking at Margaret with a bit of suspicion. “What are you doing out here by the way? Isn’t it a bit late, you got the morning shift tomorrow.” Doug said not trying to be rude but just trying to figure out why she would be out and on the main strip, he didn’t see her there too often anyways but before she worked never. Doug of course didn’t want to push his boundaries, Margaret and he were not friends to say the least, but they were acquaintances.

Margaret crossed her arms, off course he was off to meet his friend they always were meeting up somewhere. “I, was just meeting a friend myself, I know when I have to work you don’t have to tell me.” She hadn’t realized how much time she had spent in the room with Enoil but it had been enough to make it late. She shifted some her red feathers moving as she did. “What is your friends name anyways you have never told me.” She was a bit curious, she might not be friends with Doug, but hey he was a cute otter.

Doug didn’t want to answer but if he didn’t she might think something was up, even though there was he didn’t want her to catch on to what was happening. “Um, his name is Lione; he likes to play video games and helped me a lot when I got to town.” Of course Doug came to town with Lione, but Margaret didn’t know their past and he wasn’t going to start letting her in on it.  He moved about wanting to continue to meet Lione he didn’t want to make his love wait for him. Lione wanted to meet in the park, which was an odd place for them to meet up but, hey maybe the fire flies were out and about. They had gone their separate ways after the lunch reservations, Lione had to go do something and Doug just went on his merry way, and now the fennec fox wanted to meet up. Doug moved his brown paws to his hips and smiled. “Well, anyways be safe and see you tomorrow maybe! If I don’t die anyways walking on the sidewalk or something.” He laughed a bit at his own morbid joke, he might not go to work tomorrow anyways, and he had a few days he could take off.

Margaret smiled some and then nodded. “Well alright have fun with Lione see you tomorrow.” She didn’t find his morbid-ness funny but she wasn’t going to complain about it to him. She watched as Doug turned and walked away, her eyes watched him as he continued down the path, for a small guy he was oddly handsome, maybe she would ask him out one of these days. As she stood there and watched him she started to think. I wonder what kind of girls he likes does he like tall girls or short girls. As she though this she turned away from the otter and continued down the path to her car, it was getting even darker out as she continued, she was a bit worried about Enoil and her situation but as long as she did what she was told she wouldn’t get hurt, or at least that’s what the warlock said to her. She continued down the sidewalk passing random people, some of them looked at her funny; it might be due to her having dirt on her clothes due to falling but she didn’t know. I wonder what my part is going to be, actually I wonder more when its going to be happening, what does Enoil still have to do before getting me involved. As she thought this she quickened her pace, the air was getting even colder making her shiver some, she hadn’t dressed for the cold night time. She wondered how so many people could just walk around naked and not even think about it being cold. She sighed as she got to her car looking at it, well at least she could go home and sleep not having to worry too much about what was to come, it was what she was told to do. As she stood there she heard a voice that seemed familiar one that belonged to a gay raccoon, one that she hadn’t ever met in person but had seen once or twice. She turned and looked at him before diverting her eyes just listening in on his conversation; he had his cell phone up to his ear.

Don was walking down the sidewalk after getting off of work he had helped one of the businesses catch up on their accounting work, making sure numbers lined up and everything finally equaled out, when he heard his phone go off. He grabbed it looking at the screen and seeing his lovely white tiger’s picture, meaning it was Whisper who was calling, he then put it to his ear slowing his pace down. He didn’t even notice Margaret as he started to reply to Whisper. “Hey Whisper, what’s going on? Is everything alright you don’t call often. I know I had to ditch our plans, and I’m sorry.”

Margaret was listening in pretty hard, hearing a little noise from the other side of the phone not being able to make out what Whisper had said. Don continued walking and talking. She continued to listen to him, nosing in to have some kind of drama to talk about.

“Well, if you are going out then just be careful, take a flash light and make sure your phone is charged, don’t walk down any alley ways..” Don stopped talking as there was noise on the other end of the phone. “Of course of course I know you are not a child I’m just worried about you dear. Just be careful out there ok, don’t stay out too late. I will have dinner ready for you when you come home.” More noise from the phone, this time Don was nodding his head and making affirmative noises before he spoke up some more. “Alright dear, I love you and always will. See you later.” Don closed his cell phone and let out a sigh looking down at the ground for a second then started walking again. “.. Why couldn’t he just let me in on what he was doing...? I know he isn’t a child but, I want to protect him.” Don’s words traveled off as he got out of Margaret’s ear shot.

Margaret watched Don walk away and then smiled, well it seemed like even gay man had relationship issues. Margaret decided it would be a good time to get in her car and get headed back to her apartment before she saw another person that would get her attention. She walked around to the driver side of her car and got in. It didn’t take her long to start the car and get back to driving, getting ready to be home. As she got on the road she didn’t take long to actually get parked in front of her apartment. As she stepped out onto the dark pavement a car went by blasting some kind of pop music. She smiled some, for some reason the dark feeling had been lifted as she got in front of her apartment. She didn’t know why but she felt momentarily free from all the darkness she felt when near Enoil. Though, she still knew she had to stick to her word, she wasn’t going to back out on it, especially with her life on the line. She walked to the door and unlocked it before feeling a hand on her back, she turned and didn’t see anything, she sighed maybe she wasn’t really free from the darkness. She walked in and closed the door locking it then heading to the elevator, she was ready to get back to her room, just too finally have a chance to cool off and relax. She slowly made her way through the lobby a few of the apartment dwellers were sitting around and chatting. She looked back towards the elevator as it opened the same old lady from before getting off. She ran as fast as she could before jumping into the elevator.

As she got in the elevator she leaned against the back of it she didn’t push to close the doors right yet just incase someone else wanted to get on. As she waited she saw a silver fox start walking towards the elevator, once he reached it he got in with her. Margaret hadn’t ever seen him before; she had definitely seen every resident in the apartment this guy was new. She sighed and leaned away from him the elevator going up slowly, she looked over at him and the fox smiled. The fox had a strangely good look to him. She smiled back awkwardly. “Hi, how are you doing tonight?” She asked him, she didn’t want to seem rude as she looked up at the numbers telling what floor they were on.

The fox thought for a moment then decided to speak back. “Well, I’m doing fine, name is Wire, just moved in a few days ago, and it’s a pleasure to meet you.” He spoke kind of quick trying to avoid eye contact to the avian. He didn’t like to look at people, being he had oddly colored eyes, each being a different color. He then looked over at her, out of curiosity, it seemed like some kind of dark aura was radiating off of her. Wire glanced away from her, his fur standing on end. He put his hands together before the elevator beeped on his floor; he waved to Margaret then got off hoping to never encounter her again.

Margaret smiled some, what was with all the hot guys coming out and about recently. The elevator doors closed and the elevator continued up the sound of the metal grinding as the lift continued to move. It didn’t take long before the elevator came to a stop and she got off on her floor. She stepped out of the elevator and started towards her apartment getting to the door and unlocking it heading into her apartment and closing the door. She turned her light on and walked to her counter throwing the money onto is and going to the fridge, she got a few snacks before looking out the window. She knew somewhere; something bad was going to happen tonight she could just sense it. Out the window even though it was night, it still seemed like darkness was enveloping the town. She backed away from the window and then went to her bedroom she wasn’t ready to go to bed yet; her thoughts were still making her mind wander. Her mind slowly shifted back to seeing Mordecai and Rigby lying on the arcade floor kissing each other, she still felt disgusted towards them, but at the same time she oddly felt like maybe if she had dated Mordecai it would have stopped all of these things from happening.

She shook her head walking back out into the main room in her apartment taking turning out the light then heading back to her bedroom closing the door and sitting on her bed. Enoil was a fishy type in her book; it was weird how he asked her for help, or how it seemed like he knew she would help him. She glanced about her room, she wondered if maybe there was cameras or something watching her all the time, she didn’t think his magic was weird, just some sort of parlor tricks, though it did seem pretty real at the time. She took off her clothes and lying down onto her bed. She closed her eyes, and knew tomorrow was going to be a busy day. Even though her mind was filled with thoughts of Mordecai and Enoil she still felt a bit drowsy.

As Margaret finally fell asleep Enoil set out to continue his plans for the night, he sighed as he walked outside of his shop his feet touching the ground and making dark foot prints. He didn’t want to do what he had to do, he too was sworn into service of Hyrokkin and had to break all ties with anyone he had emotions towards. He let out another heavy sigh filled with guilt as he started towards the park, things were about to get dire.

Meanwhile in the park…

Rigby and Mordecai had already started wrestling, Rigby had made the first tackle grabbing Mordecai from behind and knocking him onto his chest, a sneak attack of course. Mordecai struggled against Rigby’s tackle and easily rolled himself on top of the raccoon pinning the brown furred rodent to the floor moving his blue feathers onto his wrists.  “You know Rigby you are not going to win this.” Mordecai smiled cockily sitting some using his knees to stay above Rigby. Rigby started to thrash and sway under Mordecai trying his hardest to get out from under him. Mordecai smiled, he might as well let Rigby think he was strong enough to escape. Mordecai loosened his grip and then Rigby’s hands slipped out from Mordecai’s grasp and the raccoon was out from under him in one quick motion. Mordecai felt a weight on his back and fell to the ground laughing some as Rigby had jumped onto his back.

Rigby had trashed loose and then tackled Mordecai from behind his chest pressing down onto the blue jay’s back. He wrapped his arms around Mordecai his brown fur intertwining with the blue jays feathers. “You can’t beat the rig-master!” Rigby taunted holding tight onto Mordecai, Rigby had a pretty good sense that he couldn’t win but still it was fun to just mess around with Mordecai, especially when it meant body contact. Rigby moved himself on Mordecai and tried pinning his hands to the ground. As Rigby started to put force down on Mordecai’s wrists he felt himself pushed off of him and onto the ground. Then he felt himself picked up and placed back on the floor Mordecai leaning over top of him and smiling. “W-What?” Rigby didn’t expect what happened next. Mordecai’s feathers went for his sides and started tickling him, making Rigby thrash about.  Rigby kicked his feet at Mordecai hitting the blue jay in the gut, he was trying to get away and to no avail Mordecai had him on the ground and Rigby had no choice but to be stuck on the ground.

“Who is the Rig-master now?” Mordecai said teasingly his feathered fingers still rubbing along side Rigby’s body tickling the little raccoon. Mordecai blushed a little seeing Rigby under him and wiggling around made him a little hot under the collar; he looked away from Rigby and stopped tickling him. “Uh, maybe... we should just hit the hay.” Mordecai said his face starting to turn crimson. He then felt a paw above his groin; he looked down and blushed more. “Rigby don’t... I-I don’t feel comfortable yet.” Mordecai knew he was being a total blocker, but he just had to feel more comfortable with the whole idea.

Rigby let out a groan and retracted his hand from Mordecai and then looked up at him making a whiney face. “Fine, but you better be ready for me soon, I can’t hold off forever, and when I am ready your blue feathers are mine.” Rigby grinned and moved out from under Mordecai standing up and staring at Mordecai who stared directly back at him. Rigby could see a fire behind Mordecai’s eyes; it seeming like the blue jay’s lust was starting to build up and was getting ready to burst within a few moments. “M-Mordecai.” As soon as he finished speaking Mordecai’s beak was pressed heavily against his lips and Rigby was pushed back to the ground Mordecai crawling over top of him putting his feathered hands on Rigby’s hips and grabbing them. This made small squeaks break through the kiss as Rigby started to moan just from the touch he wanted so bad to just let himself go, but he wasn’t going to let Mordecai do anything yet, he knew that would not be what he really wanted; he had to stay true to his friend’s wishes.

Mordecai broke the kiss momentarily to speak grinning some as he spoke. “Hmm, I think its I who is going to have your fluffy tail.” Mordecai laughed some as crimson started plastering Rigby’s face, Mordecai leaned back in letting his tongue travel inside of Rigby’s mouth again, he felt the raccoons tongue fight against his own, he was starting to feel even hotter, maybe he would break his rules... Maybe he was ready.

“Mordecai.. Rigby?” A gaily voice popped throughout the room, making both Mordecai and Rigby turn towards to door. A familiar pink lollipop man was standing in the door frame blushing as he looked at the two. Mordecai rolled off of Rigby and covered himself Rigby doing the same with an article of clothing. “I-I... Was curious of what you two were doing.” Pop’s tried not to be too nosey but he heard a lot of noise coming from their room, he just wanted to make sure everyone was ok.

“W-we were wrestling pops, don’t worry about us you can go back to bed.” Rigby said looking over towards Mordecai laughing a little then looking back at Pops who was still in the door way. I can’t believe we forgot to lock the door... What are we dumb? Rigby thought this standing up and uncovering himself walking towards the door and Pops. As he walked towards Pops the lollipop man started to back away from the door. “Keep what you saw between us three ok pops?” Rigby said smiling and trying to not seem scary, he didn’t need this getting around the park, and he would also make sure the door was locked next time they planed on doing anything. Pops nodded to affirm that he would keep it between the three which would be pretty dang good; he didn’t want the news to get around.

Mordecai watched as Pops left the door threshold and Rigby closed the door and locked it then looked back towards him. Rigby smiled at Mordecai and started towards him and then jumped towards him, Mordecai grabbed Rigby mid flight and then walked over towards the bed laying down on it with Rigby on his chest. “Lets just go to bed for the night, we can always do this some other day right Rigby?” He said this apologetically, because he knew that Rigby wanted to do it pretty bad, but Pop’s pretty much killed the mood for him. Rigby sighed and then nodded and leaned his head into Mordecai’s chest. Mordecai smiled the warmth off of the brown raccoon radiating into his own feathers, this made him let out a soft content sigh. “Rigby, I love you.” Mordecai said this and kissed Rigby on top of the head.

Rigby sighed he wanted to do everything with Mordecai but he should wait, but still he just wanted to go for it. “I love you too Mordecai.” He snuggled his face more into the blue jay’s feathers them warming him up even more. He closed his eyes and started to drift asleep hearing Mordecai’s heart once again its beats slowly lulling him to sleep. As Rigby fell asleep so did Mordecai the blue jay’s small snores filling the room as the two slept, little did they know what was about to happen.
